AQHA Regional Experience
Ok. So after packing up the enormous amount of crap you have to take with you when you have a kid, planning the trip around nap time so he wouldn't scream the entire three hours it takes to get to Reno, we arrived in one piece with a happy little boy. We had some lunch and went to the show......Did you ever see National Lampoons Summer Vacation? You remember when they get to Wally world and it's closed. That was my level of disappointment in the show. I was expecting lots of shopping, some clinics, and tons of horses. There were three vendors, that's what I said 3 ! Two of which are at my usual show. There was hardly anyone showing. Most of the people there were people I show with, and the parking lot looked deserted. There were no clinics that we saw. I don't know if they got cancelled or what. I feel so sad that this wasn't as cool as it could have been. I don't know if its the price it cost to show, or that no one has the money to travel. The classes didn't even have enough horses in them to get points to qualify for anything. Very sad. It must be so much harder and more expensive to qualify now. I bet the world show will be small this year too.

As long as the entire trip did not resemble the rest of the movie! ;)
Sorry it was a bust for you, but glad that you did get to get out there!
That's so crazy! 3 vendors??? wow... that is shocking. I guess it's the economy... but wow. Thanks for the report!
What a trip - in every sense of the word. Kinda scary that things are so rough all over. Wish it woulda been different. But at least its fun packin' all that CRAP. 0_0
You know, last year with the price of fuel skyrocketing people went, come hell or high water. This year, I think they are paying the price. We just went to a regional HS rodeo and there just wasn't as many entries as there was 2 years ago when I took my niece.
I've talked to a few people and they all say they are being as conservative as they can be-trying to make each event they go to count and spending as little as possible.
Ahh, that's too bad. I can't believe it was so deserted. At least you didn't take the security guard hostage like the Griswalds!
I MISS AQHA shows!!!!
The folks say hi back. I love having them here. They have been hanging out with the boys and having a ball. I start traveling again for work, life, etc. and they will be home while I take my first (since Bear) trip next week.
Dad still makes me laugh until I pee.
We miss you too, and hope all is well
Where are you?
